Monthly Guest Talks at O Circle

Open to the Public

Beginning this January, O Circle’s monthly guest talks are open to the general public as ticketed events.

Each session features an hour-long conversation with a leading artist or cultural practitioner. The format begins with a brief introduction, followed by a talk from the guest about their work and practice, and concludes with a live Q&A.

Tickets for non-members are $20.

JANUARY GUEST: ERIC SHINER

Eric Shiner is the President of Powerhouse Arts and a leading curator, art historian, and writer. He was formerly the Executive Director of Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, Artistic Director of White Cube New York, and Senior Vice President of Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s. From 2010 to 2016, he served as Director of The Andy Warhol Museum, where he also held the position of Milton Fine Curator of Art.

A leading scholar on Andy Warhol and Asian contemporary art, Eric lived and worked in Japan for six years and was assistant curator on the inaugural Yokohama Triennale in 2001. He has curated dozens of contemporary art exhibitions internationally and led The Warhol Museum’s major Warhol retrospective that traveled to Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Tokyo between 2012 and 2014. Notable exhibitions include Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei (2015/16), Deborah Kass: Before and Happily Ever After(2012), Armory Focus: USA at the Armory Show (2013), and Armory Platform (2017).

Eric is the immediate past President of the board of Visual AIDS and currently serves on the boards of The Romare Bearden Foundation and Art at a Time Like This. He lives in NYC and upstate New York with his partner, Dr. Ishaan Kumar, and their long-haired dachshund, Juno.
